Recount

Terms

Last updated 15 September 2026

The licence

Buying Recount grants you a perpetual, non-exclusive licence to install and use it on up to two computers that you own or control, for personal or business purposes, including commercial work. The version you buy keeps working; there is no renewal and no expiry.

Please do not share your licence key publicly or redistribute the installer. Keys that appear in public are deactivated.

Trial

Recount runs fully featured for thirty days before it needs a licence. Nothing is withheld during the trial — the point is that you find out whether it works in your actual applications before paying.

Accuracy and your responsibility. Speech recognition makes mistakes, and Recount is no exception. You must read what it writes before relying on it.

Accuracy and your responsibility

Recount is a transcription tool, not a professional. It can mishear a word, produce a similar-sounding word with a different meaning, or drop a negation — turning "no evidence of" into "evidence of" is a realistic failure, not a hypothetical one.

If you use it for clinical documentation, legal filings, inspection reports, or anything else where an error has consequences, you are responsible for reviewing the output before it is filed, sent, or relied upon. Recount does not replace your professional judgement, your review process, or any obligation you have to your clients, patients, or a court.

Published accuracy figures describe measured performance on a specific test set, under stated conditions, and are not a guarantee of performance on your voice, in your room, on your vocabulary.

Refunds

If Recount does not work for you, ask for a refund within thirty days of purchase and you will get one. You do not need to justify it. Given the trial runs for thirty days before purchase, you should not need the refund — but it exists.

What we do not collect

Nothing you dictate. Audio is processed on your machine and discarded. See the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

Updates

Updates to the version you bought are included. If a future major version is sold separately, your existing licence keeps working on the version it was bought for.

No warranty

Recount is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, liability arising from your use of Recount is limited to the amount you paid for it. This does not limit liability for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.

Payment

Purchases are processed by our payment provider acting as merchant of record. They handle billing, tax and your payment details under their own terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States.
